The series began during a deeply transitional moment in Gunnar’s life, following the end of a long relationship and a desire to regain his footing. Creating the Go-Go Boys became a way to support himself through that transition and reclaim a sense of independence through his work. It was during this time that “Just Keep Dancing” became the motto of the project, a small reminder to keep moving forward that Gunnar personally signs on the back of every Go-Go Boy. What started from that personal place unexpectedly went viral on social media, with each new collection selling out.

Gunnar has intentionally kept the project spontaneous, creating whenever inspiration strikes and releasing the work in surprise drops rather than following a production schedule. This keeps the Go-Go Boys joyful and free from the pressure to constantly produce, while leaving room for new poses, styles, characters, and special editions as the project continues to evolve.
